3. What are the differences now? 计时1分钟,回答开始…

听力原文如下(阴影部分为答案核心内容)

People in Poland take their pleasure seriously.(1)They like to have an aim even when spending the time which is entirely their own. During the summer, people start work very early in the morning so that they can finish early and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. It is difficult to imagine Polish people going aimlessly for a walk in the country, though they might go to pick wild fruit,to visit a place of historical importance or to walk 20km as a training exercise.(2)They are often admired for their immense enjoyment of the arts. All parks are beautifully cared and are for the use and enjoyment of the people. Quite ordinary people will talk with obvious delight about concerts. There is nearly always a crowd at the door of the theatre, asking for returned tickets.(3)People in Poland now have far more leisure time and more money than ever before. It is therefore possible to spend the weekends in many new ways. Many people now have over 20 days holiday a year. This provides an opportunity for holidays in the country or at the seaside.

一级练习:[难度系数★]

本课主题“旅游名胜”在较难的四级模考阅读里出现。试一试下面的文章和题目!

临考情境模拟:请在5分钟内读完文章,4分钟做完题。请把计时器调到9分钟。计时开始!

Tourism clearly counts as one of the most remarkable economic and social phenomena of the last century. It undoubtedly will keep this position for the century to come. Every year a bigger portion of the world population takes part in tourism activity and for the majority of countries tourism has developed as one of the most dynamic and fastest growing sectors of economy.

Data for the last decade show that air and road transport are, by far, the means of transport most widely used by international tourists. In 1999, air transport represented 43 percent of the total and road transport 42 percent. Rail transport accounts for 7 percent and sea transport for 8 percent. Over time a clear trend can be observed of a slow but steady increase of air transport at the expense of road transport.

According to figures up to 1999, leisure, recreation and holidays still represent the main purpose of visit, accounting for 62 percent. Business travel accounts for 18 percent of the total, the remaining 20 percent being represented by other motives, for example, visiting friends and relatives, for health treatment and other.

WTO's Tourism 2020 Vision forecasts that international arrivals are expected to reach over 1.56 billion by the year 2020. Of these worldwide arrivals in 2020, 1.18 billion will be intraregional and 0.38 billion will be long-haul travelers.

The total tourist arrivals by region shows that by 2020 the top three receiving regions will be Europe, East Asia and Pacific, and the Americas, followed by Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are forecasted to record growth at a rate of over 5 percent per year compared to the world average of 4.1 percent.

答案揭晓

S2. The air transportation will increase while the road will decrease.

[TOEFL真题]

写作素材

The Grand-St-Bernard Pass is the oldest Alpine pass route, protected by monks inhabiting the hospice(旅客住宿处)on top for almost a millennium. The sense of history is what draws countless travellers in—for centuries, this was the only road between northern Europe and southern Europe for hundreds of miles on either flank. The interesting museum documents the history of the pass, and includes several quaking accounts of fatal or near-fatal crossings. The two buildings which make up the hospice, exposed to winter storms which have been known to bring 25m of snow with them and temperatures of-30℃, date from 1560 and 1898; the older one contains a Baroque church. If you walk down from the hospice, the Italian frontier guards will let you cross the international border to explore the rocky area behind the customs post and Italian hospice; around the statue of St Bernard atop its round pillar(1905)you'll find traces of the Roman road cut into the bedrock.

In summer, it's possible to stay in the hospice, which is still a functioning religious community, either in plain, cosy rooms, or dorms(Fr.17); the cooking is suitable hearty and warming and the atmosphere jovial. During the winter months(Nov.—Jun.)and over Easter, you can arrange an individual retreat, to take advantage of the solitude for personal reflection. The hospice also runs mountaineering courses and weekend hiking and skiing excursions.
